Write. Publish. Impress.
On Aug. 1 2023, I established Leaving.Ink, and claimed it to be the simplest blogging platform.
Originally, Leaving.Ink was designed as my personal blog on a broad range of topics such as languages, art, mathematics, programming and social networking, but later I rebuilt it as a non-profit open platform.
The name of Leaving.Ink is an imitation of âlife imitating artâ (Oscar Wilde), and I hope this project can inspire others to start their âimitationâ.
Letâs walk through the whole project while introducing the features.

If you are typing our domain and visiting our website for the first time, you will see the following page.

Click the Start editing, now
button to get started, or click the arrow next to See it go live
to view the showcase (you are already viewing it).
But before that, we can first explore the features of our frontend.
I created it as âa present to the modern Webâ, that is to say, our techniques and concepts keep pace with the latest.
/admin
No long-winded documentation. Our editor includes essential instructions.
You can select Inks
(articles) or Tags
(descriptions of tags) section and then find what you would like to edit or create within the list. By default, contents shown below are blog settings.
Click Submit
to bring your changes to life.
A unique subdomain under leaving.ink
is offered to you to strengthen the feeling of your private space. It makes the URL shorter, more accessible and more meaningful. Your blog will be live on https://[your_subdomain].leaving.ink
. (If the submission fails, probably the subdomain youâve chosen isnât available or some required fields are still blank.)
If you would like to use a custom domain, please contact us via email.
You may have also noticed that in the footer
field, there is a text indicating that Markdown is supported. But what is Markdown?
Markdown is intended to be as easy-to-read and easy-to-write as is feasible.
âŚ
Markdownâs syntax is intended for one purpose: to be used as a format for writing for the web.[1]
We provide rich text support with Markdown throughout our website. In places where Markdown supported
is indicated, you can use this syntax to simply display wonderful contents.
For instance, you can use [text](https://example.com/)
to create a link.
To be more specific, the variant of Markdown we use is Zenn Flavoured Markdown, which is implemented by a Japanese technology community to make Markdown even more powerful.
Read the English version of documentation translated and simplified by me or read the original Japanese version full guide on Zenn.
If you think itâs still a little bit too complicated to manage, we already have a built-in WYSIWYG editor for you, and you can find a lot of other online Markdown editors like TOAST UI Editor. After all, Markdown is the very syntax of the Web.
https://[your_subdomain].leaving.ink
By the time this Ink was written, internationalisation (i18n) of Chinese and Japanese for this area had been finished.
/
It resembles the homepage of our main site. You can also have an About
page to introduce your blog.
Your pinned Inks are shown below. An Ink card consists of a cover image, a title, some description (optional), some tags (optional) and a read button.
Visitors can access the Archive
page by clicking the Archive
button, the Read
button in the navigation bar, or the Archive
link in the navigation accordion.
You can show some copyright information and external links in the footer.
/archive/[page_number]
Archive is a collection of historical Inks. There are 6 Inks per page.
/ink/[ink_token]
Your articles and About
page are accessible here.
If this Ink isnât available in the visitorâs country, they will see a 451
error message.
If the Ink doesnât exist, a 404
page is returned.
Comments
section is at the end of an Ink. It is off by default; you can switch it on for Inks separately.
/tag/[tag_name]
A Tag
page shows all the Inks that have a certain tag.
/sitemap.xml
This page is automatically generated for search engines like Google. You can submit it to their console following their instructions.
This is our present to the modern Web!
These features are all offered for free and we are looking forward to hearing advice from you. You can contact us via iMessage or Email (life@leaving.ink) to provide feedback or for support.

Honestly, I'm really not a fan of commenting mechanism. So it's
off
by default and I didn't even have plans to add support for it at the beginning. But anyway, it doesn't cost much time and it's worth it as long as you enjoy it!
Feel free to say something!
